This Singaporean durian shop is calling for ‘noobs’ to work with them.

Since April, a Singaporean durian shop known as 99 Old Trees Durian has been offering a position for anyone who’s interested in becoming a durian seller. With zero experience required, the job ad openly says that they’re recruiting “noobs” who will learn the skills of basic durian recognition, basic knife handling, and identifying fruit damage on the job!

Their amusing and job ad caught the attention of netizens with its hilarious pitch. However, that’s not the only thing that’s eye-catching about the job. According to the ad, hired applicants can earn up to $3,500 (RM10,873) a month with a $500 (RM1,553) sign up bonus!

With the slogan, “Earn, learn and burn”, their advertisements have been featuring gym-related content since the announcement of gym closures throughout Singapore until 30 May due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Captioning their photo with “Don’t let those muscles melt away”, the shop also slipped in some whacky elements in their ads to show a man laying on a pile of durians stating,

“You think you know pain? Understand pain and deliver pleasure”.

The job opening is only open to Singaporean residents and will be available from June to August, with a starting salary of RM34(S$11) an hour. The rate is expected to increase over time based on skill improvement.

Now that’s what we call marketing! Would you guys sign up for this job if it was available in Malaysia?
