Now, it’s no secret that Sabah is in high demand, with Malaysia and the Philippines both fighting over the state.

The battle has since been taken to new heights and someone has changed Sandakan Airport’s name on Google Maps to ‘Sandakan Airport of the Philippines’.

Based on a report by Kosmo, the airport isn’t the only location in which their name has been changed to include ‘Philippines‘. Another place that has been renamed is the Tawau Night Market, Sabah to the Philippines.

This can only been seen on the Google Maps application and does not apply to other platforms.

Considering the names of locations on Google can easily be changed, we wonder how Malaysians are going to take this a step further.

“It’s not a hacker, but, the names can be edited. Anyone can edit and change (the names). (The names) can be changed at anytime.”

Sabah 2

“Come, let’s change the name of Manila Airport.”

We genuinely hope this stays all in good fun.

Stay tuned for more updates!
