Six Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) players at the Malaysian Badminton Academy (ABM) Bukit Kiara tested positive for Covid-19 after undergoing screening for the virus. BAM in a statement, as reported by Berita Harian, said all the players did not show any symptoms and are currently undergoing quarantine and monitoring. The statement explained,
“All six players are currently undergoing self -isolation according to the quarantine protocol set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the National Sports Council (MSN). After discussions with the MOH, MSN and the National Sports Institute (ISN), a total of 91 players, coaches and officials located at ABM Bukit Kiara immediately performed a swab test. The test results came back negative.”
ABM had to reintroduce quarantine training and school activities will be conducted online for a few days. ABM also underwent a sanitation process to ensure everyone’s safety and hopefully, the players that are affected will recover soon. The identities of the six players were not revealed by BAM but it is made clear that they are not in the group who have taken their vaccine last Thursday.
