Part and parcel of enjoying live concerts are getting to experience the sounds and sights artistes bring to the stage. But for our hearing-impaired brothers and sisters, such a pleasure may not be allotted to them as easily. Luckily, some international artistes have recognised the gap in providing such a facility, and have taken strides in creating an energetic and enjoyable ambience for them too.
A recent TikTok video has been making waves online after a Singaporean concert goer named Rastny Octiana shared an experience of hers while attending Coldplay’s concert just last week. Standing at a designated sign language area for the event, Rastny captured a moment where the interpreters of the event danced and gave an equally lively performance for hearing-impaired concert goers.
In the clip shared to her page @rastnyoctiana, the user shared how the two interpreters not only signed the entire performance by Coldplay in the background, but matched their hand movements by dancing and mouthing the words of each song for those who were hard of hearing.
As seen in the clip, one interpreter signed the music of each song, while the other signed the lyrics of the songs, alongside additional commentary added by Coldplay’s lead vocalist, Chris Martin.
Receiving immense praise from users online, many individuals around the globe commented on how enthusiastic both men were, making the performance even more enjoyable and pleasant for those who needed their collaboration for the event.
“I was watching them the whole time!” commented one user.
On the other hand, multiple users who also happened to attend Coldplay’s concert in Singapore, mentioned how they noticed the duo from their own seats. Another user also said that it must have taken a lot of time to prepare for the event, though the message of inclusivity was noticeable and appreciated.
“This is what we call a holistic and comprehensive society. No one gets left behind!” added another user.

We hope this inspires all live performers to incorporate sign language interpreters into their own concerts in the future. Inclusivity for one is inclusivity for all!
