A Malaysian single mother in Rompin, Pahang, sought traditional healing services after believing she had fallen victim to black magic. Unfortunately, she ended up losing RM103,000 to a man online who claimed to be a “shaman” capable of helping her.
The victim suffered not only financial losses but was also coerced into sending nude videos as part of the so-called “payment.”
She came across the advertisement for the service on Telegram and contacted the fake shaman on September 1. The imposter claimed he could treat her black magic-related issues, on the condition that she followed all of his instructions without question.

On Wednesday (September 3), she was instructed to place her gold necklace and RM71,000 in cash near a ditch in Kota Bahagia. The suspect assured her that the items would be returned within two weeks.
She obtained the cash by pawning her other jewelry, which she claimed to have shown the suspect while in an unconscious state. The 51-year-old victim also complied with the demand to send nude videos, believing it was necessary to resolve her dilemma.
She realised she had been scammed when she returned to the ditch on September 5 and found that the jewelry and cash had vanished. She immediately lodged a police report the same day.
