The Selangor government is considering once again mandating face masks and physical distancing should there be an increase in Covid-19 cases.
According to a report by Berita Harian, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari shared that the matter will depend on the increase in statistics and the number of Covid-19 cases recorded by the Ministry of Health (KKM).
“We are looking at (the number of) cases, now we are monitoring Covid-19 cases from month to month and also week to week. If there is a large spread, maybe we will take further action… that means social distancing, wearing face masks, so we have to be prepared,”
“The SELangkah application is ready (to identify individuals infected with the pandemic),” he said.
With that, Amirudin strongly encourages the public to immediately take the booster dose injection, whether it is the first or the second since the number of recipients of the injection is still low in Selangor.
“We have to intensify the booster dose, especially the first booster dose. The community needs to accept the fact that they must be fully protected because Covid-19 will last for a long time, especially the emergence of new variants,” he added.
Considering no one wants another lockdown, let’s all work together by adhering to the current SOPs while also taking our own precautions to prevent any potential spread of the Covid-19 virus.
