The sharing by a Malaysian man caught the attention of netizens recently after he complained about the tiny portion of curry sauce served at a popular Kopitiam in Kuching, Sarawak.
In the Facebook post, the man, Saiful Firdaus Sulaiman, shared a photo of the literal spoonful of curry sauce he received from the eatery, which was served inside a Chinese soup spoon.
A Kuching Kopitiam patron was shocked to be charged RM2 for a literal spoonful of curry sauce
Furthermore, Saiful was shocked at how much the Kopitiam charged for the extra curry sauce, which was RM2.
He wrote,
“Seriously, you guys sell this tiny portion of curry sauce for RM2? Not even a small bowl. Just two spoonfuls, and they’re finished.”
The disgruntled patron further asserted that he had asked the eatery’s staff about the curry sauce serving, to which they replied that the curry sauce served in a Chinese soup spoon was the Kopitiam’s standard operating procedure (SOP).
The disappointed patron then said that the eatery could do better.
Moreover, in the comments, he shared another photo of the curry sauce serving, comparing the size of the Chinese soup spoon used to serve the gravy with a regular soup spoon, showing that the former was just slightly bigger than the latter.
The eatery has since responded and assured the patron that they would take action on their side
Following the post getting traction online, the Kopitiam contacted Saiful and assured him that they would take action on their side on the matter.
The patron thus hoped that the eatery would improve in the future as it was for their own reputation.
Besides that, the Kopitiam also left a comment on the post, saying that they’ve taken his feedback on the portion sizing and that they will consider it.
The eatery also issued a clarification on the curry sauce serving, asserting,
“To clarify, our Mee Siam Ayam Goreng is traditionally served without curry sauce. However, we do have a separate curry sauce available, which is intended as a dip for our Golden Dip Bun snack.
“This additional curry is priced at RM2 and is served in a smaller portion, fitting the snack it’s paired with.”
