Selangor Sultan decrees that no new pig farming operations will be allowed in Kuala Langat
His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin has carefully reviewed the management and direction of pig farming in the state, considering the welfare of the people, environmental sustainability, and social harmony.
In line with this, His Royal Highness has approved a plan to gradually halt existing operations and fully relocate them to Bukit Tagar.
“His Royal Highness has decreed that no pig farming operations are to continue in the Tanjong Sepat area, Kuala Langat.
“Existing farms will be gradually phased out and relocated to Bukit Tagar according to a structured plan, in full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations,” the statement read.
The Selangor state government will not fund any future pig farming operations
Additionally, His Royal Highness stressed that there are no plans to export the farmed products.
“A detailed study, including a thorough census based on verified data, needs to be carried out to determine the actual statistics and demand for pork specifically for non-Muslim consumption in Selangor.
“The results of this study will serve as the main reference for deciding the scale, capacity, and scope of pig farming operations in Bukit Tagar, ensuring that activities remain reasonable and well-controlled,” the statement added.

His Royal Highness also emphasised that the Selangor State Government will not provide any funding or investment for pig farming operations in the future, including those in Bukit Tagar.
“All related activities must be carried out without using state public funds. His Royal Highness hopes that everyone involved will carry out these decisions responsibly and carefully, in accordance with the law, to protect the welfare of the people, ensure environmental sustainability, and maintain the harmony of Selangor’s multiracial community.”
