Selangor’s top police officer stated that there is no immediate need to disclose the names of the contractors allegedly involved in the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire.
The investigation has not yet been classified as a criminal case and is currently centered on identifying the cause of the incident.
Datuk Hussein Omar Khan mentioned that excavation work was carried out approximately 30 meters from the site of the explosion. This work, which involved installing a sewer pipe, was halted two days before the fire.

The police have questioned 56 individuals, including developers, contractors, subcontractors, and workers who were involved in the excavation. Authorities are investigating whether the excavation work or a potential leak in the 30-year-old gas pipeline triggered the explosion1.
Meanwhile, national sewerage company, Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), clarified that the private sewer pipeline connected to IWK’s main pipeline was constructed by the developer’s contractor.

The police will soon call in the contractor believed to have carried out the development work near the site of the gas pipeline fire to verify their identity and involvement.
Additionally, the Fire and Rescue Department is conducting a thorough assessment of the damage to the affected homes and remains on standby to prevent further fires.
