Yesterday, it was reported that a total of 33 Selangor FC fans were arrested and brought to the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate’s Court to obtain a remand order following a public order disturbance incident in the district.

Those arrested had paraded across the Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge while waving team flags and lighting flares, all while blocking traffic behind them.

21 of the 33 fans arrested tested positive for drugs

It was later discovered that, out of the 33 people who were arrested, 21 of them tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), following urine screening tests.

Terengganu Police Chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairuddin shared:

“Seven of those arrested were students, namely two students from public higher education institutions (IPTA), four students from private higher education institutions (IPTS), and one secondary school student.

“All of them will be investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Addicts Act 1983 and subsequently handed over to the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) for further action.”

The authorities also found and seized drugs suspected to be marijuana and erimin on the buses carrying fans from Selangor.

Selangor FC condemns its fans involved in the incident

Selangor FC has since shared their disapproval over the act while thanking the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for taking action to safeguard the general public.

In a statement, the football club asserted:

“Selangor FC deeply regrets the incident involving a small minority of supporters on the Drawbridge in Kuala Terengganu, before the recent 2025/26 Super League match against Terengganu FC.”

“The club does not compromise and strongly condemns any form of behaviour that violates the law and threatens public safety. The club further emphasises that such conduct is contrary to the values of Selangor FC and the wider Selangor football community,” Selangor FC added.

A call for mutual respect

The football club went on to urge fans to behave more responsibly and to have mutual respect to foster a more supportive football culture.

“Selangor FC remains open to engaging with any supporter communities and will provide full cooperation to the relevant authorities in elevating the safety and excitement of local football,” it added.
