Following allegations and outrage online about the appointment of a firm closely linked with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh in the tender of the new Demand-Responsive Transit (DRT) system in Klang Valley, Selangor Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee Chairman Ng Sze Han has released a statement to address the issue.

In the statement, Ng clarified that Asia Mobility Technologies Sdn Bhd, whose CEO is Ramachandran Muniandy, Hannah Yeoh’s husband, was indeed 1 of the 2 companies appointed for the DRT project.

Both companies were approved by APAD and federal regulators

The Selangor Exco elaborated that both companies were selected for the project because they presented satisfactorily to a state transport committee.

Furthermore, the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and federal regulators have also approved both companies for proof of concept services. Specifically, Asia Mobility’s Bus On Demand service was approved as early as December 22, 2022.

In the DRT pilot project, Asia Mobility operated the service at Ampang, Hulu Kelang, Puchong and UPM-Serdang.

Ng added that the state wanted to meet the standards set by the authorities to ensure the safety of passengers was guaranteed. He also revealed that a letter of intent was issued on June 15, 2023, by a letter of appointment to the 2 companies on 20 September 2023.
