The food industry is definitely filled with surprises! From robot waiters to touchscreen takeaway kiosks, it is interesting to see what new creative concepts there are in store.
Now, the latest one to join the food-tech merge is Malaysia’s first automated restaurant, grEAT – The Healthier Fast Food, which has opened its doors on February 2! Located on the lower ground floor of One Utama, everything in this restaurant is operated by high-tech mobile ordering system. Yep, everything is just a tap away from your mobile phone.
What’s special here is that you don’t have to interact with any staff because there will be no one, literally no one to serve you at this restaurant. There will only be tables, chairs and vaults ready for you. The only human contact available must be in the enclosed kitchen area…
grEAT offers a variety of healthy choices even though they serve fast food meals. Customers have plenty of options to choose from such as ‘Signature Smoky Burger’, ‘Flavorful Satay Bowl’, ‘Thai Spaghetti’ and ‘Passion Mushroom Salad’. FYI, all of the dishes here are free from pork, lard and MSG. No need to feel guilty when digging in here!
How does the restaurant operate?
To order, customers have to place their order by scanning a QR code via WeChat. Then, select and confirm your order for the kitchen to process it. Payment has to be made upon ordering and you have to set the pick-up time as well.
Also, it is advisable to click on ‘Arrive Shop’ five minutes before you arrive at the restaurant. Once you reach the restaurant, look for the vault labelled with your username and scan the QR code on the vault. And ta-da, your meal is served! Easy right?
You can either choose to enjoy your dish at the restaurant or takeaway and snuggle up in the comfort of your own home. Sounds good either way!
