After a long day at school or at work, you can’t help but fall asleep while taking the MRT.
Unfortunately, there are those awkward times when you accidentally doze off and your head falls on someone else’s shoulders. Invading another’s personal space is a no-no, especially in a crowded train.
If you’re lucky, you’d have a gentle awakening. If you’re not, you’ll experience a rude one by someone like this lady over here.
On Thursday (4 July) a photo was uploaded on Reddit by Maxdilbe showing a lady’s ingenious idea of protecting her space by holding a toothpick in the right hand, directed at the boy who was sitting beside her

It was explained that the lady resorted to such action after the boy repeatedly fell asleep on her arms throughout the journey. The boy was about four to five years old and was accompanied by his caretaker, possibly his mother.
However, the caretaker allegedly did not care that the lady was annoyed by the sleepy boy. The lady also didn’t want to change seats even though her husband made an offer.

Most Redditors have sided with the lady, explaining that she was right in defending her personal space with the toothpick. Some blamed the caretaker of the boy for not intervening.
A small number of Redditors mentioned that there are other ways for her to deal with such situations. As an adult, she should’ve talked to the caretaker first, or even take-up on her husband’s offer to switch seats.
