A cafe in China has made headlines for launching a unique coffee drink made with cooked pork intestines, priced at 32 yuan (RM19) per cup.
According to the South China Morning Post, the newly launched latte features three levels of flavour (entrance, mid and high), with the intensity of the intestine taste increasing at each level.

The drink, reportedly sold at a coffee shop in a small city in China’s Sichuan province, features a latte blended with liquid from cooked pork intestines and chitterlings.
According to the cafe owner, the pork intestines are sourced from a well-known local restaurant. The liquid from the dish is then mixed into the latte, which the owner describes as having a sweet, salty flavour similar to “salty cheese.”
“Red-braised pork intestine is a popular dish in Jiangyou. I wanted to combine it with coffee to promote both my cafe and this unique local delicacy,” the owner explained.

“We hope most people will be open to trying it”
Since the drink went viral online in early June, around 80% of customers have given it a try, resulting in the shop’s sales more than quadrupling.
The owner explained that the goal was to let customers experience the unique flavour of pork intestines without overpowering the coffee itself.
“We add exactly 6 grams of intestinal liquid into each cup, a measurement we settled on after multiple rounds of testing. We want customers to enjoy the delicate taste of the intestines, but without compromising the coffee’s flavour. We hope most people will be open to trying it.”
