Sabah Beach Seen to be Covered in Rubbish, M’sians Push the Blame on Foreigners

There are 2 things that Malaysians are ridiculously good at, and that’s littering and pointing fingers at other people.

Here’s an example of this.

The ISU SEMASA VIRAL Twitter page recently shared an image of a beach in Lahad Datu, Sabah, and let’s just say there’s more trash on the beach compared to sand.

Beach 4

They wrote, “A beach in Sabah. Can’t say much because apparently, they’re always right. If you say anything, then Peninsula Malaysia will be blamed for taking Sabah’s money.”

In the picture, the beach could be seen completely covered with trash (we don’t even want to try to imagine how the area smells) while the general public looked on from the sidewalk.

And while many pointed out that the local authorities should do more to educate the people against littering and enforce stricter punishments, others shared their belief that foreigners from the Philippines are the cause of the litter build up.

Beach 1

“Is this caused by Sabahans littering or the illegal Filipino people living there?”

Beach 2

“Me, as a Sabahan, am also disappointed by this level of rubbish. One more thing, this also happens because of the attitude of illegal immigrants and stateless people. I don’t deny that there are some locals who have the same attitude, beaches in Sandakan are also like this. It’s disappointing because the relevant authorities are not doing anything.”

Beach 3

“Illegal Filipino immigrants threw (the litter). For the 6 months I’ve stayed in Sabah, the beaches are beautiful and clean. The Karambunai beach was also pretty. But, at the Imago area, there’s a river that’s very dirty because of the village above the water. Many Filipino illegal immigrants litter there.”

It is truly saddening to know that, not only do Malaysians litter everywhere we go, but we also refuse to take accountability for the part we play in the matter.

We genuinely hope that the Lahad Datu local authorities will take stricter action against those who litter in the area.

What do you think about this? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
