It seems that some robbers have gotten creative in Tawau.
According to China Press, a robbery has taken place in broad daylight at Tawau on the morning of 15 April.
This took place at a row of shops opposite the former Empress Theater.
The CCTV footage shows a 57-year-old man sitting in his car who was approached by a man wearing a black mask.
It is said by the Tawau district police chief, Jasmin Hussin, that the man in the black mask told the 57-year-old that his tyre was punctured by nails.
As the elderly man did not suspect anything, he went down to check on his tyres.
In the CCTV footage, we can see that there was another man near the passenger door and once the driver got down, he opened the passenger door and took the man’s bag. Both of them fled the scene while the man was checking on his tyres.
It is said that the driver’s belongings such as RM300 in cash and his bank cards are in the bag.
The police are currently investigating this case under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
We hope that the police will apprehend the robbers soon. As for the other people, remember to always be vigilant!
