Rider Killed in Bangsar After Going Under the Wheels of Lorry That Speedily Reversed Into Traffic

A motorcyclist met his demise after going under the wheels of a lorry that reversed itself into the traffic in Bangsar South, KL.

The video showing the tragic incident went viral on social media, which saw the lorry speedily reversed into the main road at the traffic light, instantly hitting the motorcyclist before damaging another car on the other side of the road.

In a statement, the head of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, said PDRM received a report of the incident at 8:34 am yesterday (November 23) regarding the accident.

The 32-year-old lorry driver has been detained for questioning.

“The lorry driver was refilling the vehicle’s brake oil at a construction site when the lorry suddenly reversed, smashing through the site’s security gate. The case is classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.”

Police also confirmed that the driver tried to evade the lorry that lost control but to no avail. The unfortunate rider died at the scene.

 

Another driver who was driving on the other side of the road sustained injury on his forehead.
