A recent operation by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) was carried out to crack down on illegal racing and road thuggery, activities that have increasingly put road users at risk and disrupted public order.
Johor Bahru South District Police Chief ACP Raub Selamat stated that the Integrated Special Operation (Motorcycles) was conducted from 5 PM yesterday (29 March) until 2 AM today (30 March), targeting several strategic locations identified as hotspots.

Teen rempits face hefty fines and prison sentences
Four local males aged 16 to 19 were arrested for performing dangerous stunts on public roads during the operation led by an enforcement officer from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD). The team of eight officers was assisted by four personnel from Majidee Police Station.
“The operation targeted several hotspot areas, including Jalan Skudai, Pantai Lido, Jalan Ibrahim, Jalan Stulang Laut, Jalan Ibrahim Sultan, Jalan Jim Quee, and Jalan Pudina,” Raub explained.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a fine of RM5,000 to RM15,000 and a prison term of up to five years.

A foreign national was also arrested during the operation
During the same operation, the PDRM also detained a foreign man who was found riding a motorcycle reported as stolen.
“The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to seven years, or a fine, or both. Further checks revealed that the individual had also violated immigration regulations, as his travel documents had expired. The case is also being investigated under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63,” Raub said.
In total, the operation led to the seizure of 16 motorcycles and the issuance of 41 POL 257 summonses for various traffic offences and road law violations.
“The police want to stress that illegal racing and road thuggery are extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated. We urge the public to help by providing any information on illegal racing or road thuggery to the Johor Bahru South IPD hotline at 07-218 2222,” Raub added.
