On Tuesday (April 30), police had arrested 2 people, a 66-year-old woman and her worker, for allegedly trespassing in a forest area planted with Musang King durian trees in Raub, Pahang.

Following this, Raub MP Chow Yu Hui took to his Facebook page to defend the woman, and  unlicensed durian farmers in general. He also called for people to donate money to the farmers, as they were ordered by the Kuantan High Court to pay RM600,000 to Pahang government after their application to challenge eviction notices was dismissed.

Now, the Raub MP is getting bashed by social media personality, Ulasan Apek Cina, for defending the farmers despite them committing crimes and asking for the general public to pay the RM600,000 amount. He also called out the MP for only using Mandarin to communicate in his posting.

He wrote, “The police arrested 2 illegal trespassers in Raub. I am surprised by 1 thing, about the DAP Member of Parliament for Raub. I saw him posting and doing a live video in Mandarin only. I don’t know why. Could this issue not be shared in Bahasa Melayu so that everyone can understand?”

“He asked the public to donate RM600,000 to the illegal planters to pay the court costs they had lost to the Pahang state government. This is what I wonder about, (they are) illegal planters, they invaded the forest, used the forest, didn’t pay levy, didn’t pay income tax. They committed 4 crimes.”

He went on to question why the public to should them considering they are facing the consequences of their crimes.

You can check out both the MP’s posting and Ulasan Apek Cina’s posting here and here.

Should the people help the illegal farmers? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
