Two men sustained minor injuries after their 9M-SAW-Robinson R66 Turbine private helicopter crashed while they attempted an emergency landing in a vacant plot of land at Jalan PKFZ West Port, Pulau Indah here, this morning (1 January).
According to Malaysia Now, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director, Norazam Khamis, said pilot Kharudin Dahlan, 73, and his assistant Moithu Kutti Mohamad, 53, suffered injuries to the left hand and minor bruises in the incident that occurred at 10am.
He explained that they received a distress call at 10.22 am before a team of seven fire and rescue personnel rushed to the crash site.
“When our personnel reached the scene, both the victims were removed from the helicopter by members of the public and were being treated by medical personnel from West Port,” he explained.
“Preliminary investigation showed that the aircraft crashed while the pilot was trying to do an emergency landing at an open space, but failed,” he said.
He added that the two were given first aid by the West Port First Aid Response team, who arrived at the scene in an ambulance.
“Both men are in a stable condition,” he confirms.
