He wanted to launch the Google Maps application on his phone before the device slipped under the seat, prompting him to pick up the phone. He ended up momentarily losing sight of the road.

Kuala Langat District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said that the driver lost control towards the left of the road before the vehicle skidded over a ditch and landed on the bank.

The driver didn’t suffer any injuries

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving without due care and consideration. In Akmalrizal’s official statement today (16 December), he confirmed that the driver carried a valid driving license.
