A biopic about PM10, Anwar: The Untold Story, has been released yesterday (18 May) in local cinemas. The Prime Minister himself, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim watched the movie earlier during the early premier screening, and his wife and him are a fan of the movie.
However, another politician from Pejuang, YB Khairudin Abu Hassan can’t say the same for The Untold Story. He hates the movie, so much so that he called it “disgusting”.
Is it really that bad? Here’s why he’s not a fan of the movie.
“A propaganda to defame Tun M”
In his Twitter post last night, Khairudin described the film as an attempt to destroy Tun M’s reputation while promoting himself (PM10) as the Godfather. He pointed out that the film is full of historical inaccuracies.
“A production that involved no research and the movie is filled with misleading elements. Who’s the director and the scriptwriter?”
Khairudin also highlighted that the film consists of a huge Indonesian cast, with the exception of Farid Kamil and Hasnul Rahmat, who play Anwar and Tun M respectively.
The cast alone proves to be an issue for Khairudin, especially when it comes to the spoken language of the film.
“The actors try hard to speak in BM, and they sound off,” he said.
The Untold Story is directed by an Indonesian filmmaker, Viva Westi, and revolves around Anwar’s time at the Ministry of Finance during the 90s. At the end of his tweet, Khairudin sarcastically “praised” the title of the film.
“There was really a lot of ‘untold’ stories!”
Saya baru menonton filem ‘Anwar The Untold Story’ yang amat memualkan serta meloyakan.
Filem ‘haprak’ yang berunsur propaganda untuk memfitnah dan mencemarkan reputasi Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad sekaligus mengangkat diri sendiri seperti ‘Godfather.’ pic.twitter.com/dE1fB4jV5U

To those of you who have caught up with Anwar: The Untold Story, is the film as bad as Khairudin said? Will you be watching the movie despite his criticism?
