Universiti Malaya student Nawal Shahirah Mohd Jamil, 23, who was reported missing earlier this week, has been found safe and is currently receiving psychiatric treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).
Police confirmed that Nawal had voluntarily admitted herself to the hospital to seek treatment, following emotional distress believed to be linked to the recent loss of her mother.

Assistant commissioner shamsudin mamat
Petaling Jaya OCPD Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said authorities were informed of her whereabouts after HKL confirmed that the student had checked herself into the hospital on Wednesday, 28 January.
“Her condition is stable and she is currently warded for mental health observation,” he said in a statement on Sunday, adding that she is in safe condition.
Disappearance prompted concern
Nawal had earlier been reported missing after she was last seen on Tuesday at a condominium near Jalan Profesor Diraja Ungku Aziz, Section 14. Her disappearance prompted concern among family members and led to a police report being lodged.
Following the report, police launched an investigation into her whereabouts, including reviewing CCTV footage from her residence and surrounding areas, as efforts were made to trace her movements.

Authorities later confirmed that Nawal had gone to HKL on her own to seek medical assistance, bringing the search to an end.
Police have since assured the public that the case does not involve foul play and that the student is receiving the necessary care and attention.
