Chinese President Xi Jinping departed from Malaysia this morning (April 17). A total of 31 MoUs were signed between Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Chinese President during the latter’s visit to Malaysia.
In his speech, PMX dubbed Malaysia-China relations a true friendship.

In a speech during the official dinner in honour of President Xi Jinping last night at the Seri Perdana Complex (April 16), PMX said Malaysia will remain an unwavering and principled friend at all times, including “moments of triumph and times of trial.”
“Malaysia values this consistency. Malaysia will remain an unwavering and principled friend to China, guided by the wisdom of history and the promise of the future.”
Anwar said that while the leaders of some countries are abandoning the principle of shared responsibility and some are questioning long-standing commitments, China’s global initiatives offer a new ray of hope, looking outward and not talking about competition but revolution.

He added that the real strength of the relationship between the two countries goes beyond trade figures or tourist statistics, and it relies on deep understanding, shared prosperity, and trust that must be maintained with care.
“The world may have changed in various ways, but the friendship between Malaysia and China remains strong and steadfast, renewed through dialogue and reaffirmed through action.”
“China remains the most important trading partner for Malaysia, with its presence felt in the heart of the country’s development, from the flow of goods and ideas to the transformation of our energy, infrastructure and innovation.”

PMX also said that under Xi’s leadership, China has outlined a series of global initiatives that reflect a distinctive worldview, including the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which reimagines the concept of connectivity, which is not just a series of roads and rails, but as a framework for cooperation.
