A sinkhole has reportedly opened up at the emergency lane of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) today (November 12).

PLUS Expressways Berhad (PLUS Malaysia) took to their Facebook page to announce the closure of the emergency lane as well as half of the left lane of the NKVE at KM18.6, Southbound between Kota Damansara and Damansara, due to the sinkhole.

Sinkhole 1

They wrote, “A sinkhole incident has been reported on the emergency lane at KM18.6 (heading Southbound) of the NKVE Highway between Kota Damansara and Damansara. The emergency lane and half of the left lane are closed for the safety of highway users.”

“Get traffic information through the PLUS application or (PLUS Malaysia’s) X page, @plustrafik, to plan your trip. Thank you for your cooperation and patience. Be careful when driving.”

This comes after heavy rainfall caused flooding around the Damansara area, leading to massive traffic jams and some vehicles getting trapped in floodwaters.

We urge everyone to plan their journeys accordingly should they be heading in the direction of the sinkhole, and to stay safe while on the road.
