Folks in Klang Valley, especially the ones in Damansara will definitely know about the e-Curve mall, which closed its doors on March 31, 2021. Since the closure, the building has been empty it doesn’t seem that a lot of “movements” are being done to redevelop the place.
In April last year, the mall announced via its Facebook page that the place will be transformed into an iconic landmark. Nobody knew what the mall in Mutiara Damansara will eventually turn out to be, but a recent report by The Edge Markets has just revealed the plan that the owner of e-Curve mall has in mind.
e-Curve mall will be redeveloped into a high-rise residential development.
The owner of the mall, Boustead Properties Bhd is currently focusing on the high-rise residential development that will support multigenerational lifestyles, where two to three generations are housed under one roof.
“Upon completion, it will be a prominent new landmark and is set to raise the liveability standards in Mutiara Damansara,” Khairul Azizi, the CEO of Boustead Properties said.
As the development has access to various good amenities, Boustead Properties will be submitting for a higher plot ratio of 1:6 against the current plot ratio of 1:4, in compliance with any requirements by the local authorities.
They have yet to submit the redevelopment plans to the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) as they are in the midst of preparing the technical submissions.
The question of when and how
One of the many questions that may linger on your mind is when will the redevelopment project kickstart, or when will the new residential building start taking tenants in. Unfortunately, Khairul himself is not so sure about that.
“As we have yet to submit our plans, we will only have more visibility once such a step has been undertaken.”
When it comes to financing the construction, Kahirul said that it will be through the sales of the residential unit.
The Curve Shopping Mall, which is connected to the now-closed e-Curve mall, will maintain its operations and won’t be affected by the redevelopment. Fellow Malaysians, if you were among the visitors who frequented e-Curve mall, let’s take a trip down memory lane with these images of the closed mall through an old Facebook post that was shared by Malaysia Shopping Mall.
