We have seen many people go through experiences where they have been denied their rights to proper healthcare facilities, especially unmarried women.
Once again, a TikTok video by those in the field of healthcare appears to be judging unmarried women for buying birth control pills.
The video was reposted by Twitter user, @glowinputaaa and showed 2 pharmacy students taking part in a current trend on TikTok where they disappear when something does not go their way.
“When an unmarried couple comes to the pharmacy to buy Postinor (birth control pills).”
Enraged by the content of the video, @glowinputaa expressed her anger by saying that if she ever sees these girls, she will literally hit them for being so judgemental.
Continuing her thread, she explained that birth control pills are not only limited for unmarried couples, but even married couples buy it too as a form of contraceptive.
Netizens are furious
The tweet itself has obtained 6,700 retweets, 5,100 likes and 276 comments in just a matter of days, and netizens were against the video.
“Working in healthcare system requires no judgement towards patients and customers. Where is your medical ethics?”
Furious by how judgmental the two students appear to be, people expressed their anger in the comments section.
“If you cant be professional, lack empathy, and ruthless please do not put yourself in the healthcare industry,” said one user.
“Your job is to make people feel safe and not being judged when they seek for help.”
Users also mentioned how judgmental people like this are the part of the reason why people are afraid to use contraceptives, which may lead to unwanted pregnancy and even abortion.
“This is why people are scared to buy contraceptives and condoms. Because of people like this.”
Another Twitter user even said that the girls need to rethink their career choices if they still have that mentality.
With the video going viral on social media, one user pointed out that their career might have ended before it even started when they decided to make this video.
“How to destroy your own career before it even started:
“Either be careful of what you post or keep your idiocracy to yourself,” said the user.
We hope that authorities will take action on matters like this, as everyone deserves their right to access healthcare services without being judged.
