The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has arrested a 66-year-old Malaysian man in Ipoh, Perak for attempted robbery of a mobile phone shop using a toy pistol.
Following the arrest, PDRM found that the man was the same suspect for another two robberies in the city using the same modus operandi.
In a statement issued by the Ipoh District Police, Ipoh Police chief ACP Yahaya Hassan asserted that they received information regarding the attempted robbery at about 4pm yesterday (23 April 2023).
Yahaya added,
“A squad from the Pekan Bharu police station rushed to the scene, arrested a 66-year-old man and seized several items, including a backpack, a toy pistol and 2 blades.”
The Ipoh District Police chief also confirmed that the man was the same perpetrator for the robbery of a jewellery shop on 25 March 2023 and a convenience store on 5 April 2023 in nearby areas.
In both robberies, the senior citizen used the same modus operandi of using a toy pistol which looked like a real gun.
