The article stated that the pandemic has left many tourists craving for a journey that is focused on culinary experience, and that’s when Penang came into the list. Speaking of Penang, most of us will immediately think of the food. Nasi Kandar, Cendol, Assam Laksa, Pasembor, you name it. The list goes on and it is too much for us to list down all the good food in Penang here!

Penang offers a wide mix of traditional Malay, Chinese and Indian dishes. Not only that but there is also Peranakan (Baba Nyonya) cuisine, which incorporates regional ingredients and Chinese and Malay cooking methods. The best part is, the foods can all be easily spotted in hawker centres and shophouses throughout the state.

If you think food is the only main attraction in Penang, you might want to think again.

Penang is so much more than just food and architecture. In September 2021, the popular Penang Hill was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Penang Hill marks the highest point of the state which often attracts people who are in love with hiking. The lovely botanical garden in Penang Hill is also the house of more than 200 species of orchids.

In the meantime, Penang State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman, Yeoh Soon Hin had also shared this good news via his Facebook page to highlight that Penang is the only Asian representative to make it into the list.

Is Penang one of your to-go-lists? If you have ever been to Penang, what else do you love about the place?
