In less than 24 hours, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) arrested the suspect who slashed an 18-year-old woman riding pillion on a motorcycle in Melaka.
The police have since revealed that the suspect admitted that he has been harbouring romantic feelings for her.

Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, Melaka Tengah Police Chief, said that the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted his feelings about the victim, but further investigation is still being carried out.
The 25-year-old suspect, who is jobless, was nabbed by the police around 1:30 AM, and a 27-centimetre knife was also seized, believed to be the weapon used in the attack.
“My younger brother has never shared any problems with me.”
During the incident, the 18-year-old victim, who was slashed on her back, was riding pillion on a motorcycle with her 21-year-old sister-in-law. Another family member, a 35-year-old known as Yati, was shocked to learn about the matter and said that her younger brother had never shared any problems with the family or had shown any signs that he was struggling.
“The victim lives near our mother’s house in Tangga Batu, but I live in Sungai Udang, so when I found out, I was really shocked.”

Yati said that her family has left it entirely to the police to conduct further investigations and asked the public not to speculate, which could affect the emotions of both families.
“We don’t even know what really happened. The victim is our family,” reported Sinar Harian.
In the incident at about 4.45 PM on Monday (20 October), the 18-year-old victim, who works as a factory operator, was riding a motorcycle with her 21-year-old sister-in-law on the way home at Batu 9, Tangga Batu. The victim suddenly felt pain in her back before being shocked to find his waist covered in blood.
The matter is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing harm with weapons.
