An officer was shot with his own pistol

In a statement, Perak Police Chief CP Dato’ Noor Hisam bin Nordin said police tried to stop the vehicle but failed when the suspect attempted to escape, leading to a car chase that ended in an oil palm plantation.

During the arrest attempt, a struggle broke out between the suspects and police officers.

In the chaos, a police officer was shot in the abdomen with his own pistol, which the suspect had seized during the struggle. The officer was also stabbed before the suspect fled with the weapon. The victim is now in stable condition and receiving treatment at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB), Ipoh.

The police found the body of a woman in the backseat

A closer check of the suspect’s car revealed the body of an unidentified woman in the back seat. A post-mortem will be carried out at the HRPB Forensic Unit in Ipoh to confirm her identity and cause of death.

The case is being investigated under Section 302/307 of the Penal Code and Section 3 of the Firearms Act (Increased Penalties) 1971.

Police are now hunting down the suspect, who’s still on the run, and are urging anyone with information to contact the investigating officer, ASP Fadli bin Ahmad, at 012-2500019.
