A police officer was arrested after the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) pickup truck he was driving while on patrol duty collided with 2 motorcycles at Jalan Persiaran Warisan in Kangar, Perlis, at about 10:20 PM yesterday (25 November).
According to a statement by the Kangar District Police Headquarters, the police officer was arrested as preliminary investigations into the collision found that there was negligence by the officer driving the PDRM pickup truck. The officer was detained for investigation.

“The police are conducting further investigations on the officer involved in the accident. Any members of the public with information related to this incident are asked to come forward to assist with the investigation,”
“The Kangar District Chief of Police (ACP Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop) appeals to the public not to take action on their own and not to spread any speculation that could harm public peace,” the statement said.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, one of the motorcyclists involved in the accident, a 24-year-old individual, lost their life, while the other, a 25-year-old individual, was severely injured.
Videos of the incident have gone viral
Multiple videos of the incident are also circulating on social media, showcasing the aftermath of the accident, where some members of the public aggressively confronted the officer while others even went so far as to assault the officer to the point where he drew a rifle from the PDRM pickup truck and slung it over his shoulder.
