Previously, we shared about the “Melayu Berdaulat” rally in Kuala Lumpur that took place yesterday (24 May) despite road closures being enforced in the city for the ongoing ASEAN Summit 2025.

Well, the gathering, organised by a coalition of approximately 700 Malay-Muslim NGOs, was attended by around 800 individuals and took place peacefully without any unwanted incidents.

PDRM said that no ‘3R’ elements were detected during the “Melayu Berdaulat” rally in Kuala Lumpur

This is according to Dang Wangi Police Chief ACP Sulizme Affendy Sulaiman, who also revealed that there were no 3R (Race, Religion, Royal Institution) elements detected during the rally.

Sulizme was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying that there were no 3R elements invoked in the speech by the speaker during the programme.

He added,

“No 3R issues were raised. The speech mainly focused on issues regarding the Malay community.”

However, the Dang Wangi Police Chief said that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will initiate an investigation should they receive any report on the matter.

Furthermore, PDRM will examine whether an investigation is warranted against the organisers for holding the rally.

Sulizme confirmed that around 800 individuals participated in the “Himpunan Melayu Berdaulat” and no unwanted incidents were recorded throughout the rally.

Previously, the secretariat of the Malaysian NGO coalition, which organised the rally, said that it was targeting over 15,000 participants.

The rally was meant to protest the government’s alleged failure to look after the rights and interests of Malay Muslims in Malaysia.
