The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are currently on the hunt for 20 people who are believed to be members of a secret society, after they rioted at a funeral ceremony at a non-Muslim body management premises in Johor last Tuesday (March 21).

According to a report by Astro Awani, the Johor Police Chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat shared that a day before the incident, a man in his 30s with several criminal records was shot dead using a firearm at Taman Melodies. It was his funeral that the gang had disrupted.

“On March 20, a man was shot but an investigation is underway to find out the motive of the murder.”

“The next day, during the funeral ceremony for the victim, a group of 20 individuals came and created chaos at the deceased’s place of worship, so efforts to trace them are underway,” he said.

This case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and also Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting.

When asked if the killing was linked to another murder case involving a man at a petrol station in Taman Pelangi in 2017, Kamarul Zaman said that his party is investigating the allegations.

On December 17, 2017, a man in his 30s was reportedly stabbed to death and hit by a car driven by 4 men at the petrol station at about 7:30pm, when the victim and a foreign woman, believed to be the victim’s wife, were filling up their car tires.
