PDRM Arrests 8 Individuals After Snatch Thief was Allegedly Beaten to Death in Cheras

A group of 8 individuals have been arrested to assist with investigations into the death of a snatch thief in Cheras.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, the Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, shared that his department received information from the public at around 11:10am on Tuesday (July 22), in regards to an attempted robbery involving a 36-year-old woman.

He said that a male suspect, believed to be a foreigner, was detained by the public.

“Police officers rushed to the scene and found the man lying injured and unconscious. Medical officers at the scene confirmed that the suspect had died from the effects of being beaten,” he said.

On the same day, the police arrested 8 local men, aged between 22 and 72, who were believed to have been involved in the incident. All those arrested were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The police are asking individuals with information in regards to this case or details on the deceased to contact the investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent Ong Eng Yew at 012-6966849, or contact your nearest police station.

“The Kajang District Police also advised the community to always obey the law when making arrests and immediately contact the authorities for appropriate action,” Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof added.
