The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has arrested a 24-year-old man in Kota Bharu, Kelantan for making a threatening statement against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The man posted a TikTok video through his @najibnafi99 account on the platform which showed him threatening Anwar Ibrahim with a type of firework.
In the video, the man can be seen holding the firework with the caption,
“Can use this (the firework) when the Prime Minister comes to Kelantan, so as to teach him a lesson,”
According to BERNAMA, PDRM was made aware of the video after it was reposted by Twitter account holder Mat Sekilau/Membalak with the username @apanakdikato on the social media platform.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun asserted that the post featured a screenshot of the suspect making threatening remarks against Anwar Ibrahim. Checks by the police found that the original post was by the suspect on TikTok but the video has since been deleted.
The suspect was arrested at the Binjai police station at 10.30pm on Thursday (27 April 2023), with the case being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.
