Now that the state borders are open again and many of us are back in the office, the children are making their way back to school as well. However, some parents are still a little sceptical about letting their kids attend school physically.

In order to assure the parents, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education have teamed up to add a feature to the COVID NOW website.

This feature will allow parents to check the rate of vaccination of a school in terms of students and also the staff, including supporting staff. It is easy to use, however, we will still show you a step by step guide just in case.

Step 1

Start off by accessing this link and you will be brought to the page below. Then, select a state and key in the name of the school. Click on the magnifying glass.

Step 2

If there are multiple schools with the same name, you would need to select the one that you want to see. Then you will be brought to the statistics page where they will show the rate of vaccination for students and staff. In terms of students, they have a bar chart that separates them into cohorts as well.

However, a search on kindergartens and higher learning institutions rang up no results. As for this aspect, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has said that the database as of now only comprises KPM schools. Private schools can opt-in by emailing covidnow@moh.gov.my with the email subject ‘COVIDNOW Inclusion’.

We do hope that the extension can include other educational institutions as well, for the sake of transparency.
