A woman in Tawau, Sabah, found herself in a distressing situation after an elderly man approached her for money, claiming he needed it for petrol to get home.
The woman’s friend shared the incident in a viral Facebook post, recounting how they had planned to meet at a fast-food restaurant in the Fajar area.

A Malaysian woman was allegedly spied on by a “papaya-carrying uncle” in a fast-food restaurant restroom
While the friend was still on the way, the woman messaged saying she wanted to leave as quickly as possible, revealing she had been harassed by the elderly man
Once the friend arrived, the woman explained in the car how the man had tried to spy on her while she was using the toilet on the upper floor of the restaurant.
“Initially, while she was waiting at the restaurant, the elderly man approached her holding a papaya and asked for petrol money to get home.
“She kindly gave him RM10, but the man became more demanding, claiming it wasn’t enough. After she told him that was all the cash she had, he finally left,” the post read.
“The uncle is frequently spotted wandering around the area”
However, the man apparently remained in the building. When the woman later went to the restroom, she noticed him trying to peer in.
She immediately banged loudly on the door, which startled him and sent him running. She rushed out and tried to chase after him.
“By coincidence, there was a group of people upstairs holding a meeting. Some of them came down to try and catch the man, but he managed to get away and disappeared,” the friend added.
The friend urged the story to serve as a warning, especially for women out alone, to stay alert and be cautious of the ‘uncle,’ who is reportedly a frequent sight in the area.
