Actions speak louder than words. This idea is quite literally, indisputable. Despite this, many people often shy away from doing the right thing if it means stepping outside of their bubble to ensure the safety of others. But for a couple of neighbours in Selangor, standing up and coming to the aid of a helpless creature did not go unnoticed, as their actions would soon change one dog’s life for the better.

A Malaysian TikTok content creator who simply goes by Cik Sal recently shared a series of videos to her page @ciksalas. Describing the events that took place through each clip, Sal provided a detailed glimpse into an action she and one of her neighbours took after coming across a dog whom they believe was poisoned.

In the 1st video posted a few days ago, Sal displayed how she came across a dog who was walking through her neighbourhood. Foaming at the mouth and unable to stand properly, Sal quickly sprang into action by seeking the help from one of her neighbours, who is Indian by race.

Providing the pup with coconut water, the neighbour and Sal sat by the animal as it momentarily gagged for a few seconds. Consistently rubbing its back, the neighbour encouraged the dog, whom at this point, Sal named Tompok, to throw up and rid itself of the poison. Supporting the animal to drink as much coconut water as he could, the neighbour held a bowl to Tompok’s face to ease his ability to drink.

A day later, Sal provided an update on Tompok, who seemed to have made a slight recovery. Playing with the dirt in her neighbour’s backyard, Tompok also made his way to a bucket of water which Sal’s neighbour prepared for him. Aiding in his recovery, Sal even cracked a couple of raw eggs for Tompok to have in order to boost his strength.

As of today, Tompok has made a remarkable recovery, and is practically back to being his normal self. In the final video update on her account, Sal extended her gratitude to viewers who sent food and other necessities for the stray dogs and cats who roam around her residence.

“Finally, Tompok is in a stable condition and managed to walk today. To the person who decided to inflict this poison, karma exists!” wrote Sal in a caption for one of her videos.

Speaking briefly with WORLD OF BUZZ, Sal stated that there were unfortunately 2 other dogs who succumbed to the poison as well, leaving her neighbours unable to save them. Despite that, she remained grateful for the opportunity to care for Tompok, and quite literally, save his life.

“He is healthy as we speak! My neighbour is helping to monitor him. I helped buy the coconut water for him to drink, but my neighbour gave it to him, helped massage him, and bathe him to make him clean,” said Sal to WORLD OF BUZZ.

Garnering a massive response online, many users shared their frustration towards the situation, expressing their disbelief over how cruel people can be to poison a perfectly innocent dog.

I feel so sorry for him. The person who caused this is really cruel,” wrote one user.

Nevertheless, the vast majority of users came together and expressed their thanks to Sal and her neighbours for saving Tompok’s life, wishing the pup a speedy and complete recovery.

“Praise be to God! My heart is at ease to see Tompok back to being himself,” penned another user.

We tip our hats to Sal and her neighbour for being the best example one could be when coming across such an unsettling situation. To all Malaysians, show kindness and care to every stray you encounter.
