Losing your job can be heart-wrenching and mentally exhausting, especially at times when competitions are getting tougher. It’s even more frustrating when you get dismissed from your job for unusual reasons.

Just recently, a Sarawakian man, Edwin shared a snippet of his offer letter on his Facebook account and revealed that he has been fired by his superior. Edwin was asked to leave the workplace after 31 August, which means he is currently serving a notice period of 1 month.

However, in his contract, it is stated clearly that his employment with the company should last a year – from 12 June 2023 to 25 June 2024.

Edwin, who works in Bintulu, Sarawak as a crane operator admitted that on Monday morning (31 July), he had a dispute with the engineer, whom he said is from China.

“He was unhappy that I went to the toilet and took a dump during work hours, and he spoke to my employer about it, which led to my dismissal.”

Edwin also said that when he was in the midst of his task, he was told to look for another job because he will working until 31 August, and his notice period started immediately on the day itself. Poor Edwin had to agree to the dismissal because he had no idea what to do despite finding that the reason of his termination did not make any sense whatsoever.

Not only that but when Edwin asked for an official dismissal letter, his employers refused to give him.

“I have asked for an official dismissal letter and a proper reason but unfortunately, they refused to co-operate.”

He decided to share the matter on his social media, in the hopes that anyone familiar with labour laws can give him advice.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Edwin said that while he is still serving his notice period, he will not let the matter go.

“I will take legal actions and bring the matter to the Industrial Court as soon as I can.”

Hopefully, the Court will do what’s necessary to uphold the law and fight for the injustice that Edwin is facing at the moment.
