There’s no doubt that many Malaysians are struggling with the never-ending inflation, but has the struggle prompted some people to actually sell their kidneys?
According to politician Wan Ahmad Wan Fahysal, that’s the case. As KWSP withdrawals are not allowed, he said that many people are surrounded by debts and struggling to survive. However, a Malaysian doctor, Dr. Rafidah Abdullah has since debunked Wan’s statement in a tweet this afternoon (April 5), saying that it’s illegal to sell or buy kidneys in Malaysia.
“Are you okay, Wan Fahysal? There’s no such thing as selling kidneys in Malaysia.”
In a separate tweet, Dr. Rafidah once again stressed that it’s not only illegal to sell or buy kidneys in the country, but the sale of any organs is completely prohibited. She urged the politician to mind his words.
“For goodness sake, please think before you talk.”
The legality of selling your inner organs in Malaysia
According to Malaysian Digest, the price of a kidney can range from RM460,000 to RM1.6 million. That is undeniably a lot of money, but in case you’re still wondering about its legality in Malaysia, the National Kidney Foundation in Malaysia confirmed that it is in fact illegal to sell or buy any organs.
However, you can still donate certain organs, such as the kidneys, lungs, and heart.
As of today (April 5), Wan Ahmad has yet to release a further statement about his KWSP remark. Netizens, however, reminded Dr. Rafidah to just ignore the politician’s baseless remark.
“Is this the standard of a minister? Oh yes, I forgot that some ministers are stupid.”
“He has always been talking crap.”
“I think he forgot to have his Sahur.”
“Talking like he’s brainless.”
Are you ok, @wanfayhsal ?

The struggle is undeniably real, but if we were to look at the core issue here, do you think another round of KWSP withdrawal should be allowed?
