The Deputy Director-General of Malaysian Immigration’s surprise visit to the immigration office in Kelana Jaya, PJ, left some officers in shock.
The senior officer, Datu Ken Anak Leben, was seen walking to the office in PJ, where crowds were seen lining up. As per the conversation with Datu Ken and the public, some of them had been waiting in line since 6:30 am to renew their documents.
Datu Ken also found out about the absence of several immigration officers during working hours as a few counters were empty.
“Are there really no staff at the counters? Where have they gone? I need to report to the director-general,” Datu Ken said.
One of the officers told Datu Ken that the absent staff “have not come in yet.”
During the surprise visit, Datu Ken also took the time to mingle around with the crowds to understand the ongoing situation, where he learned about the difficulties with the ongoing system.
Datu Ken promised to address the matters with the officers.
One of the highlights of the surprise visit also included Datu Ken reminding an officer to follow the attire guidelines.
“Wear a name tag. We’re civil servants.”
Datu Ken also assured that more surprise visits will be done in the future to ensure a smooth operation. Are you on board with Datu Ken’s idea of surprise visits to check on the officers and the workplace environment?
