A Malaysian mother and son duo are currently in desperate need of assistance to repair their home in Kamunting, Perak, and improve their living conditions.
Malaysian philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, affectionately known as “Uncle Kentang”, took to his Facebook page to highlight the plight of the pair, who have been living in a dilapidated house with a collapsed roof.

Living in extreme poverty
Reflecting on the situation, Uncle Kentang wrote:
“I have never witnessed such extreme poverty. This is where a Malay Muslim mother stays with her son.
“He works as a grass cutter, while she helps out at a small stall selling nasi campur (mixed rice).”
He further described their harrowing circumstances, “Both of her legs are badly injured due to diabetes. Both of them sleep on the floor of a broken-down house, most of the roof of which has been blown off.”
Help however you can

Uncle Kentang explained that the estimated cost to repair the house is RM5,000. He is calling on the general public to contribute towards improving the duo’s living situation.
“I plead to all kind hearts, in this Holy month of Ramadan, let us bring them some good news. If you are a wealthy Chinese businessman or a contractor and wish to sponsor the full amount or repair the house, you are most welcome to contact me,” he stated.
Highlighting the severity of their daily struggle, Uncle Kentang added:
“Dear Malaysians, let us save them both. Living in such horrible conditions is pure suffering.
“They use the nearby Petron toilets because their own kitchen and toilet have collapsed.”
