One might think that Seremban is only the land of siew pau. Well, that’s not too far from the truth.
But, over the past few years, the Negeri Sembilan government has been commissioning artists from different backgrounds to paint the town in their colours. And we would say that it is definitely working out well!
In a post by Seremban-based photographer Perry Phua, he managed to collect photos of the murals in old Seremban town that are very IG-worthy. Let’s take a look at it!
This is where the “art street” begins and you can see from here that there are quite a few murals already.
We have a collection of Malaysian icons such as Dato’ David Arumugam of The Alleycats. The one with P.Ramlee and Saloma is a bit like an optical illusion and it would look so cool if photos were taken from the side.
These ones are a little more on the hipster side but paired with the architecture of the building, it looks amazing!
There are also more traditional ones that depict kampung scenes and personas in beautiful ethnic clothing to show the melting pot of culture that is Malaysia!
This last one is a local favourite as it shows a very vibrant dragon.
Other than these, there are many others as well as it is a whole stretch of interconnecting alleys. This is the location and it is a whole stretch so it’s better if you go on foot.
Also, there are other murals spread out across the Seremban town so if you go explore a little, you might be able to find a hidden gem!
During one of those adventures, be sure to check out the local food scene as well such as this cendol place that only locals know about or this new bakery where you can get your siew pau fix.
If you crave the nostalgic taste, the Pasar Besar Seremban is always a good choice!
The best thing is, Seremban is only an hour away from KL/ Selangor so it is really your day trip to foodie heaven. You don’t have to drive 5 hours to Penang for that mediocre cendol as well.
So, prep your bellies and get your sunscreen out for daytime adventure time in the Seremban old town!
