The task of taking care of the welfare of the people in the country is no easy feat, and leaders will always be pressured with questions and solutions when problems arise.
With the increased taxes, prices of goods, and the downfall of Ringgit Malaysia, former PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin expressed his concern about the state of Malaysians in Parliament today (March 5).
“People are looking for the good ol’ Anwar Ibrahim”
In Parliament, Muhyiddin labeled PMX Anwar Ibrahim as someone good at making promises but not good at keeping them. The former PM also said that after more than a year in office, the country’s situation is not getting better but in fact, it’s getting worse under Anwar’s leadership.
With the constant fall of the Malaysian Ringgit, Muhyiddin pointed out that our RM rate is currently the worst in history.
“As of July 2023, the total deposit of foreign currency in the Malaysian banking system is RM250 billion, which is the highest in history.”
Muhyiddin backed his claim with the total amount of foreign currency deposited back when the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak – RM150 billion.
“This shows that people who have Malaysian banknotes with them are not interested in keeping the money anymore. They’re worried that the rates will continue to drop.”
The 8th PM of Malaysia also claimed that many Malaysian economists agreed that Malaysians are losing confidence in Anwar as the PM. Muhyiddin added that he has been seeing netizens sharing old videos of Anwar Ibrahim making promises when he was still the head of the Opposition.
“He used to tell the previous government that they were not good at taking care of the country. Now, the people are telling him that he’s not taking a good care of the country!”
Muhyiddin also said that people are sharing the old videos because they are looking for the good ol’ Anwar Ibrahim who made lots of promises that have yet to be kept.
“He promised to bring down the fuel prices, he promised to lower the prices of goods and increase the rates of RM.”
Muhyiddin sent a PM a reminder and said, “If I may, please walk the talk.”
Fellow Malaysians, what do you think of PM’s performance so far? Do you think he still has a shot at improving the country’s situation?
