The History subject is generally boring for many people but those who love to explore how the past has shaped the present, they’ll love to dive deep into history. However, general information like the list of past PMs in our country is easy to remember.
Just recently, the Twitter page Big Ideas MY shared a clip of a man who randomly asked some Gen Zs to identify the people in the images shown to them in a game. The man started showing the picture of a member of the K-Pop girl group, Blackpink, and the interviewees could easily identify the member as Lisa.
Now, here’s when the guessing game was proven to be tough for them. The man then showed the picture of Tunku Abdul Rahman, the 1st PM of Malaysia who was also known as the Father of Independence. Without the late Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysians may never be able to enjoy the independence that they have now.
However, the interviewees couldn’t figure out the name of the 1st PM, nor had a grasp of who he was.
The first girl could only chuckle after seeing the image of Tunku Abdul Rahman, while the interviewees after her admitted that they have no idea about the figure they saw in the picture.
“This is basic knowledge for all Malaysians”
The clip went viral on social media and many Malaysians were not amused by their responses towards Tunku Abdul Rahman. Many of them expressed their disappointment towards the younger generation who don’t seem to grasp simple historical facts.
“I think every year during National Day, the pictures of Tunku Abdul Rahman will circulate on social media. What’s wrong with them?”
A netizen was kind enough to provide them with the full list of PMs in Malaysia.
“If this is merely an acting, that’s fine. But if this is true, our education system for the History subject has failed.”
“How did they pass the History subject?”
“It’s not funny when we’re looking at the stupidity in the generation that will lead the country.”
“I’m sure they’ll be able to explain the life stories of those K-pop members.”
“Is Tunku’s face absent from the history textbook today? I think this is as basic as ABC.”
Fellow Malaysians, can you still list down the list of Malaysian PMs in order?
