With Malaysia named as one of the main contributors to plastic pollution in the ocean, we’re glad to hear that Malaysians are becoming more environmentally- and sustainability-conscious, minimising their pollution the best they can. Better yet, even popular brands like Coca-Cola are joining the movement!

Now you can enjoy Coca-Cola Original Taste, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, and Coca-Cola Vanilla guilt-free, as they’re made from 100% recycled plastic bottles (excluding caps and labels)!

Here’s how Coca-Cola is collaborating with Malaysians to save Mother Earth:

1. Giving bottles a second life

CokeRecycle Main launch

As part of Coca-Cola’s goal to use at least 50% recycled content in ALL its packaging by 2030, Coca-Cola Malaysia now uses 100% recycled PET plastic bottles to produce every 500ml bottle of Coca-Cola Original Taste, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, and Coca-Cola Vanilla, excluding caps and labels.

These recyclables are processed and manufactured at the Coca-Cola bottling plant at Bandar Enstek, Negeri Sembilan, to symbolise how they’re made by Malaysians FOR Malaysians. Plus, they’re Halal-Certified by the Halal Inspection Body recognised by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) too!

“These bottles align with our brand philosophy of ‘Dari Botol Jadi Botol’, emphasising that every bottle has a second life,” said Kirsten van Zandwijk, Sustainability & Partnerships Director of The Coca-Cola Company in the ASEAN & South Pacific region. She added that on top of expanding their collection and recycling programs, they’ve also been hard at work in collaborating with numerous partners to spearhead their efforts. More on this below!

2. Recycle & be rewarded with Coca-Cola goodies!

CokeRecycle Smart Recycle Bins

One such collaboration is Coca-Cola Malaysia’s Recycle Me! campaign, running from 14 December 2023 to 29 February 2024 in partnership with AEON Malaysia, food-grade PET specialists Hiroyuki Industries, and new collaborator/recycling rewards program Trash4Cash.

The Recycle Me! campaign actually turns up the fun of recycling by letting you recycle PET bottles and exchange them for exclusive rewards:

  • Recycle 10 PET bottles = 10 sen Trash4Cash buy-back incentive + a free Coca-Cola drink
  • Recycle 20 PET bottles = 20 sen Trash4Cash buy-back incentive + a free Coca-Cola drink
  • Recycle 40 PET bottles = enjoy 40 sen Trash4Cash buy-back incentive + a free Coca-Cola drink

Yes, you read that right! This is your golden opportunity to enjoy cash rewards and bring home some FREE Coca-Cola drinks, all while saving the environment!

To make it even easier for everyone, Smart Recycle Bins have been placed at strategic locations for Malaysians to conveniently recycle PET bottles any time, any where throughout the campaign. Follow these four simple steps, and Trash4Cash will ensure you’re deservedly rewarded:

  1. Pack all your PET bottles neatly.
  2. Label your recyclables with your name and phone number.
  3. Scan the QR code on Smart Recycle Bins, provide your details and upload a photo of your recyclables.
  4. Screenshot your form with order ID and claim your rewards at AEON Customer Service counters.

That’s it, easy peasy! Not sure where to recycle and get rewarded? Simply visit these 15 participating AEON malls across Malaysia:
