Following the uncertainty that came with the 15th General Elections (GE15), the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ultimately decided on a Unity Government headed by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI).
Though, not everyone was happy with that decision as Perikatan Nasional PM candidate Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin refused to accept it and work with Pakatan Harapan (PH).
Now, 3 weeks after DSAI was elected and the Unity Government (which was the YDPA’s desire) was formed, many are still not accepting the concept that the current government was created with the purpose of unity in mind.
They have since taken to social media posts mentioning the Unity Government to ‘correct’ them.
“I hope Ministers won’t say Unity Government, it will confuse the people. The current government is a mixed government. Please be informed.”
“Not a Unity Government. Use the correct term. Prime channels, please don’t follow political narratives.”
“Good things we shall support, Alhamdulillah thank you YB (Hannah Yeoh, on the donation to purchase a hearse for a Segambut mosque). Not a Unity Government yeah, a mixed government is right.”
“What is this la, this is a minority government la, not a Unity Government. Be informed, thank you.”
Some also pointed out that for the current government to be a Unity Government, there cannot be an opposition.
“Coalition government. Where got opposition (PN) with Unity Government?”
“Don’t get it yet? Not a Unity Government la. It’s a mixed/coalition government. The Unity Government was proposed but rejected when PN chose to be the opposition. In a Unity Government, everyone unites as a government, there is no opposition. Understand?”
