About a year ago, a man purchased a Nissan Fairlady for his wife and upon handing the car over to a workshop in Kuala Lumpur for restoration purposes but the work shop owner’s son allegedly took advantage of the situation by taking the car on multiple nighttime joyrides.
One of those joyrides ended up sour as an accident caused the car to be severely damaged. All of this was captured on dashcam footage. What makes this entire situation worse is that the workshop owner and his son has since refused to take accountability for the incident and has apparently taken the damaged car hostage.
Mac Seah, the man who bought the car for his wife, took to his Facebook page to recount the incident and to call out the workshop owner and his son.
He started off by clarifying, “This is a Malaysia-bought car with a Malaysia car plate, for collection and was in the process of restoration work for the past 9 months.”
“The only reason why the car was there (with the workshop) is because an ex-mechanic recommended me to his ‘new partner’ and told me to send me car to this (workshop name) instead of his previous company due to some unforeseen circumstances.”
DO NOT drive my car!
In the dashcam footage attached to his post, the workshop owner’s son could be seen driving the Nissan Fairlady out on multiple occasions and he brought his friends on one of the joyrides. On another occasion, he even sped up to 130km/h.
At one point, when the workshop owner was driving the car at 8:52pm on November 17, 2023, he collided with a Perodua Myvi, causing the Nissan Fairlady to be severely damaged.
After compiling everything he can from his end, Mac explained how he was intimidated and humiliated by the workshop owner after the accident.
“My car was driven out without permission and without valid reasons. They asked me to give them time, avoid telling others and promised they would take responsibility by getting me another car, moving my items over and covering what it takes to make it right,”
“However, that wasn’t the case. I was waiting and waiting but there was no favourable response. I was asked to meet their father in person and go down alone for a one-on-one talk, which ended with them intimidating me.”
Mac explained that the workshop owner had insulted him for being Singaporean and told him to “wait and see”.
Considering the fact that the car was totaled, it was placed in a scrapyard where the workshop owner then towed it away for ‘repairs’.
“I was told my car had been towed from the scrapyard without my permission and was repaired. When I showed my disagreement, (the workshop owner) asked me, ‘So? What can you do about it?’.”
“Now, my car has been towed to another reputable workshop for assessment and the assessment report is bad (unable to furnish more information at the moment),” he said while updating that the report shows the car is no longer safe to drive.
He also added that he intends to ensure the workshop owner and his son take responsibility for their actions with the help of his lawyer.
Considering the fact that the workshop owner’s son’s antics were captured clearly on dashcam footage, we genuinely hope that justice be served accordingly.
