For most of us, weddings tend to be once-in-a-lifetime affairs that no expense would be spared for. After all, you want to make sure that every moment is truly, without question, picture-perfect. Given that lucrative market, wedding companies try hard to make sure they can win prospecting couples over.
But one company might just have crossed a line to get that perfect wedding snap, as this now-viral Twitter post comes to show.
Posted by netizen @chrissytwittwit yesterday (5th November 2019), the Tweet in question surrounds a series of photos that feature a model in what appears to be a bridal photoshoot.
While the photos may look pretty nice at first glance, a closer look raises some alarming concerns.
The entire photoshoot was staged at a Christian cemetery, and the model was seen sitting on the graves of the deceased, posing for her pictures.
In her Tweet, @chrissytwittwit, who goes by Chrissy, said:
“F*cking stupid. Don’t you have anywhere else to do a photoshoot? You’re disrespecting the burial grounds of other people, burial grounds of Christians at that. Damn, people will surely do anything for attention. If I see you sitting on my family grave, I will find you right away girl.”
Chrissy then goes on to explain in further Tweets that for Christians, cemeteries are considered to be sacred grounds blessed by priests for the dead, and says that getting angry over this incident is only a natural reaction. She adds that even Christians themselves wouldn’t even think to do a photoshoot like this in a cemetery. And all for the sake of getting viral, too!
But she tells other Muslims not to be sorry on behalf of their religion, explaining that:
“Hey guys, there is no need for you guys to say sorry on behalf of your religion. This is not because of religion, it has nothing to do with race or religion. If you’re an idiot, you’re an idiot. We get angry not because of her race, but because she lacks the ability to respect the places of other people.”
As it turns out, Chrissy has even tried to reach out to the company owner and get her to take down her photos, citing the clear lack of respect. But instead, she got blocked by the owner over social media!
According to a screenshot of the Instagram Chrissy included, the owner is a professional makeup artist and runs her own business. The offending photo appears to still be on her feed.
What’s worse is that apparently, there wasn’t just one model who was there participating the shoot. In a recording of an Insta Stories highlight, we can clearly see numerous models participating in the bridal shoot. One even lies on her back between two graves for a photo.
Netizens were quick to condemn the company for having the bridal shoot in a Christian cemetery, and said that what the company did does not represent Muslims in Malaysia.
“This isn’t the culture of Muslims either, because we respect burial grounds and the deceased that are buried there. They must be crazy. They can’t differentiate between what’s right and wrong.”
“I’m sorry sis. This is not a real Muslim. Islam doesn’t teach you to act like this. Even if you go to a Muslim cemetery, there are customs to follow. They must clearly have not thought ahead and can only think for themselves. No common sense.”
“This does not represent Muslim(s). I’m against this rude photoshoot. They should apologise to all Christians for this. So inappropriate.”
While we do not agree with what this company has done to get their pictures taken, we do not condone any attempts at sending the company and its representatives hate. An eye for an eye, and the world goes blind! But we hope that this company learns its lesson from here onwards!
